National ID

NATIONAL ID WRITEUP
To encourage Ugandans to invest back home, as Embassy, we have come up with the issuance of IDs starting the month of June 2024
The Embassy is pleased to inform Ugandans within the Kingdom of Denmark, Republic of Estonia, Republic of Finland, Republic of Iceland, Republic of Latvia, Republic of Lithuania, Kingdom of Norway, and Kingdom of Sweden who wish to register and renew for National IDs (fresh applications) may book their appointments for registration at Embassy of Uganda - Copenhagen. 
Appointments can be booked online for National ID registrations on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and pickups on Thursdays and Fridays every week (Visit the Embassy website).
Please note that this service is offered free of charge by the Embassy except for the following:
•    Change of information ID required.
•    Correction of Errors- New ID required.
•    Late Renewal of ID
•    Replacement of a lost ID

REQUIREMENTS NEW ID APPLICATION
(FOR ADULTS)
1.    A copy of a valid Ugandan passport or birth certificate indicating the nationality of the person
•    A person’s resident permit must be matching with the Ugandan passport.
•    A person with NO resident permit but with a Ugandan passport is not legible to get Ugandan NID (REASON MIGHT BE A CITIZEN OF ANOTHER COUNTRY)
•    A person with a certificate of dual citizenship or approval of dual citizenship (both digital and manual) is legible if they present one of the Country’s passports, even if they do not have a Ugandan passport at the moment.
2.    Covering letter from the Embassy
3.    Copies of IDs of Parents/guardians (if available, this increases your chance of approval)
REPLACEMENT OF LOST ID
1.    Letter from the applicant explaining the Loss of the ID addressed to Executive Director NIRA
2.    Covering letter from the Embassy (Recommendation letter)
3.    Police Report (this should be from the Country where the ID got lost)
4.    Copy of Receipt (Payment of 50,000 in Ugandan bank)
5.    Copy of lost NID or its NIN
REGISTRATION OF CHILDREN (Children of 12 years and above enroll to get their NIN)
1.    Birth certificate
2.    A child must have a resident permit.
3.    Passport of the parent(s) and other supporting documents
REQUIREMENTS FOR CHANGE OF DATE OF BIRTH 
1.    Statutory Declaration registered with USB. NOTE: OWN/ADMIT YOUR ERRORS/MISTAKES IN THE DECLARATION 
2.    Birth certificate or notification of birth.
    In. the case of a birth certificate issued before 2016, submit a certified copy of the certificate and statutory declaration. Nothing else
3.    A letter addressed to Executive Director NIRA requesting a birth year change. 
4.    Any other supporting documents with the desired date of birth.
5.    CID report from your area. (NOTE: The copy of your national ID and phone number for the officer handling your file should also be attached.
    The CID officer should interview the client and some of her relatives (mainly parents if alive) and then make a report including the following: 
•    Heading 
•    Action taken. 
•    Findings
•    Recommendation 
Note: We need a CID report, not just statements

SPELLING ERROR AND CORRECTION OF DAY/MONTH OF BIRTH 
1.    Present original National ID
2.    Statutory declaration duly registered by Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) NOTE: IN THE DECLARATION, CLEARLY OWN/ADMIT YOUR MISTAKE/ERROR MADE WHILE REGISTERING 
3.    Supporting documents like birth certificates/notification, academic documents, baptism cards, passport, etc 
4.    Payment receipt of 50,000UGX
ADDING/ DROPPING A NAME  
1.    Must present Original National ID
2.    Deed poll, duly registered by Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB)
3.    Uganda Gazette (As required according to Section 36 of the Registration of Persons Act [ROPA] 2015) 
4.    Supporting documents, such as Birth, Baptism, and Marriage Certificates, Academic documents, and work documents, depending on the case. 
5.    Payment receipt of Shs.50,000

PAYMENT PROCEDURES

Please generate payment form from the URA website, after receiving your Payment Reference Number , you can choose method of payment either visa card/master card or Mobile Money.

Kindly make a print out of the receipt and attach on your documents.
