Registration for Ugandans in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland

The Embassy of the Republic of Uganda in Copenhagen is committed to serving Ugandans in Denmark and countries under its accreditation (Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden). 

The right to hold a Ugandan Passport comes with the responsibility to notify the nearest Consular Representation of your whereabouts. (Pg. 48 of the Passport of the Republic of Uganda).

All Ugandan nationals living abroad who hold Ugandan Passports are mandated to register their presence with the nearest available Uganda Embassy. Ugandan citizens and Ugandan Diaspora visiting or residing in the Nordics are encouraged to register with the Embassy in Denmark. Please note that each member of a household must be registered separately. This includes minors. 

BENEFITS OF REGISTRATION

1. Registration will make your presence and whereabouts known in case it is necessary to contact you in the event of an emergency, whether natural disaster, civil unrest or family emergency.

2. Receive important information from the Embassy about safety conditions in your destination country, helping you make informed decisions about your travel plans.

3. Help family and friends in Uganda get in touch with you in an emergency.

4. It helps the Embassy to regularly update Ugandans with urgent information.

5. Registration at the Embassy helps to re-unite lost and found documents with their owners. Some of these documents and passports have been returned to the Embassy by Danish or Swedish authorities after failing to trace their owners.Over 800 passports, 60 birth certificates, 3 marriage certificates and 2 death certificates have been returned to the Embassy and await collection by either owners or next-of-kin.

6. It is a basis for which the Embassy can certify your Ugandan citizenship in the event of loss of ID and provide you with a letter stating as such.

The Embassy will only contact you using whatever information you choose to avail. It is important to understand that the Embassy will neither share nor sell your information to third parties.
